Ten years of French cinema. From 1954 to 1964, French photographer Alain Adler roamed the sets of French cinema. The decade was rich with productions : from the beginnings of the "Nouvelle Vague" with "À bout de souffle" by Jean-Luc Godard or "Tirez sur le pianiste" by François Truffaut, to the longevity of the "French quality" of films by Claude Autant-Lara or Jean Delannoy, against which it was built. The actors are not to be forgotten : Michèle Morgan, Alain Delon, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Micheline Presle, Jean Gabin, Serge Reggiani or Annie Girardot. All these emblematic actors of that time posed in front of the photographer's lens who captured them in full action or resting. The Roger-Viollet agency, which acquired the photographer's collection in 1990, has yet digitized over 12,000 of Alain Adler’s negatives.
