Biography

In 1959 Che Guevara gave Gilberto Ante (1925-1991) his first 35mm camera, an Exakta. From that time on, he photographed the story of the on-going revolution: Fidel Castro, Ernesto "Che" Guevara, Raul Castro...From the 1960s until the end of the 1980s, Gilberto Ante was an observer of the agrarian reform, of the literacy campaign, of political life, of daily and artistic life, working in particular for the newspapers Bohemia and Verdi Olivo. Roger-Viollet is the exclusive distributor of Gilberto Ante's photographs worldwide.
